By comparison to patients with private healthcare, Medicaid patients in South Florida faced greater delays in obtaining care. In fact, this difficulty in obtaining specialized care resulted in an increased number of patient medical encounters. This was the result of data collected from a study on 80 patients with an ACL tear presenting to county and university-based sports medicine clinics.
