The authors reviewed 1321 acute non-displaced fractures and found that post-splinting radiographs of minimally- or non-displaced fractures were associated with longer ED wait times, greater radiation exposure and increased healthcare costs without providing helpful information. 60% of patients with minimally displaced fractures received post-splinting radiographs, and all images demonstrated maintained alignment.
