Functional and integrative medicine practitioners often utilize high-quality dietary supplements to support their patients’ health. It is an absolute necessity to understand how to best work with supplements, which types of products or ingredients have the best outcomes clinically, and how to logistically manage supplements within your practice to minimize overhead. There is also a general concern about quality, which is reinforced in the media, and a desire to ensure that the recommended dietary supplements are going to truly help their clients/patients and not cause harm.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

This course will provide practitioners with an unbiased and actionable curriculum and by the end of the course, attendees will be able to:

  • Understand how supplements are manufactured and how they are regulated by the FDA and FTC
  • Choose the best supplements for their practice, focused on ingredients and product types that have the most effective clinical outcomes across various conditions.
  • Identify the highest risk areas in the manufacturing process that may lead to a poor quality supplement
  • Review the testing parameters that are required in dietary supplements to prove identity, potency, and overall quality.
  • Confidently evaluate brands for their own professional use and feel assured the brands meet quality standards.
