USC Clinical Rheumatology Update: Focus on RA, Axial Spondylarthritis, Lupus, Soft Tissue Syndromes and Other Rheumatic Disorders is designed to provide rheumatologists and primary care physicians with up-to-date information on how to recognize, diagnose, treat and follow common rheumatologic conditions. Distinguished faculty will give didactic lectures on disease-specific topics including: the diagnosis and treatment of RA, PSA, and other inflammatory and non-inflammatory arthropathies. The role of imaging of these disorders with radiological techniques will be reviewed. An in-depth exploration of autoimmunity will be presented. The educational format includes case studies and panel discussions allowing participants the opportunity to attain and integrate new, practical information into their clinical practices to improve patient care and outcomes. In order to maximize accessibility and encourage engagement within the local and global healthcare community, learners may attend this conference live or participate virtually. 

Target Audience:

This course is intended for community rheumatologists, internal medicine physicians, family and general practice physicians and allied health professionals who desire to update the knowledge and competence in the diagnosis and treatment of spondylarthropathies, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and other inflammatory and non-inflammatory arthropathies. 

Educational Objectives:

By the end of the course, participants will be able to: 

  • Analyze new and novel treatment in rheumatic disorders.
  • Discuss current guidelines in treating rheumatic disorders.
  • Differentiate on a clinical basis from over 150 types of arthritis.
  • Distinguish the pathophysiology of RA, SLE, gout, psoriatic arthritis and AS.
  • Explore differences in biologic agents used in the field of rheumatology.
  • Review common lower extremities in sports injuries in a high altitude environment.
  • Review new developments in the field of rheumatology.
