Emphasis is placed on a meticulous dissection of the brachial plexus and axillary blood vessels that permits a safe and reliable resection. Static and dynamic methods of soft tissue reconstruction are employed to stabilize the prosthesis. Multiple muscle rotation flaps and transfers are used to cover and suspend the prosthesis, restore shoulder stability, and minimize the risk of infection.
