45 y.o. Male with Lucency s/p THA

By Kevin Forsythe

45y/o male, THA done 15yrs ago (h/o Perthes), 3 months of progressive groin pain (minimal thigh pain). Hip aspiration/bloodwork negative for infection (pain worsened during hip fluid injection), bone scan shows activity around femur (?possibly normal for uncemented) but not cup, plain film shows lucency adjacent to shell that has enlarged compared with films 5 yrs ago, and likely eccentric wear of liner. The pain is interfering with sleep and ADL's now.
