OVERVIEW

The 8th Annual Breast Health Symposium is a full day multidisciplinary live CME program that is widely attended by breast health providers in various disciplines locally in the NY metro area+ select national audience, Will include a virtual option. This course seeks to improve the multidisciplinary knowledge base of learners on the breast treatment team, with an additional focus on navigating the changing landscape in breast cancer treatment. A panel of expert faculty in the specialty, both local and national will be presenting. 

TARGET AUDIENCE

Medical, Surgical and Radiation Oncologists, Breast Surgeons, Plastic Surgeons, Radiologists, Pathologists, Palliative Care Physicians, Genetic Counselors, Physician Assistants, Advanced Practice Nurses, Registered Nurses, Physical Therapists, Breast Nurse Navigators and Breast Social Workers.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

After participating in this activity, clinicians should be able to:

  1. Recognize redefined biologic subtypes of breast cancer and assays to identify them
  2. Utilize targeted drugs in the treatment algorithm of advanced and early breast cancer
  3. Evaluate appropriate sequencing of surgery in the era of neoadjuvant therapy to improve survival outcomes
  4. Incorporate principles of patient satisfaction and cosmetic outcomes while selecting reconstructive approaches.
  5. Describe the biologic rationale for proton therapy
  6. Define the potential applications of proton therapy for locoregional management in primary and recurrent breast cancer
  7. Recognize the spectrum of cardiac toxicities in and the impact of cardio-oncology as a field in improving breast cancer outcomes
  8. Describe the evidence for nutritional and complementary therapies in improving breast cancer survival and reducing toxicities.
  9. Effectively utilize navigational support to ensure patients meet milestones of care and improve comprehension of treatment choices including clinical trial participation
