Event info

The 6th Global Summit on International Breast Health and Cancer Control: Improving Breast Health Care through Resource Stratified Phased Implementation, October 15–17, 2018 will be convened in cooperation with the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) in Seattle, Washington, USA.

Over the course of the Summit, expert working groups will build on the innovative tools and guidelines developed by BHGI and NCCN to develop systematic, evidence-based implementation frameworks for translating resource-stratified guidelines into practice through a phased implementation approach.

This Summit will provide a unique opportunity for the international community to examine the current state of scientific understanding regarding successful models of breast cancer diagnosis and care delivery and resource utilization, and to analyze issues affecting barriers in access to care. BHGI is a founding member of the Breast Cancer Initiative 2.5 (BCI2.5), a global campaign to reduce disparities in breast cancer outcomes for 2.5 million women by 2025. The activities and objectives of this Summit are intended to support global efforts to develop practical strategies to achieve this goal.

TARGET AUDIENCE

  • Clinicians and governmental health care agencies
  • Public health researchers
  • Advocacy, non-governmental, non-profit and for-profit organizations

Groups include breast health provider experts, policymakers, oncology nursing, reproductive providers, health educators, and community organizers, palliative care experts, breast cancer advocates, NGOs, local cancer societies and other allied healthcare providers who have an interest in or who provide healthcare for medically underserved women.

  • Define phased implementation strategies for early diagnosis, treatment and supportive care that optimize value for resources used and improve patient access, treatment quality, and information transfer within existing systems
  • Identify unanswered research questions that can help improve the implementation of evidence-based strategies for breast health in diverse settings
  • Develop implementation tools and metrics for mapping context-specific breast care pathways onto existing healthcare systems
  • Synthesize and disseminate findings from this conference as adaptable recommendations and implementation tools for improving breast health care in underserved regions around the world
