The Migraine Symposium is a two-day educational and celebratory event that expands our understanding of migraine with the help of presentations by more than 35 experts from around the country. The symposium is divided into two tracks, one tailored to medical professionals and the other to patients and the general public, however, both programs are open to all attendees.

 LEARNING OBJECTIVES

At the conclusion of the symposium, participants should be better able to:

  • Discuss the overlapping pathophysiology between migraine and unsuspecting comorbid conditions
  • Explain how migraine affects the visual system
  • Discuss the role of opioids in migraine care and potential risks
  • Organize training of a more diverse healthcare and research workforce and assess current care for underserved populations

The Medical Professional Track of the Migraine Symposium is jointly provided by Warren Alpert Medical School & the Association of Migraine Disorders.   

Continuing Medical Education for Physicians
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and the Migraine Association. The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians. 

The Warren Alpert Medical School designates this live activity for a maximum of 7.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Day 1: 3.75 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM  with 1.75 hours of Cultural Awareness

Day 2: 3.75 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM  with 2 hours of Risk Management

Nursing Continuing Education
This activity has been submitted to Northeast Multi-State Division (NE-MSD) for approval to award nursing contact hours. Northeast Multistate Division (NE-MSD) is accredited as an approver of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. 

Physician Assistants & Nurse Practitioners
Participants will receive a Certificate of Attendance stating this program is designated for 7.5 hours AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. This credit is accepted by the AAPA and AANP.

TARGET AUDIENCE

Physicians practicing in primary care, pediatrics, psychiatry, anesthesiology, emergency medicine, family medicine, gastroenterology, neurology, OB/GYN and general medicine in addition to physician specialists, physician assistants, pharmacists, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, residents, fellows medical students and other allied members of the healthcare team in the care of patients suffering from migraine.
