OVERVIEW

This course will provide a comprehensive overview of the latest technological advances in surgical training and surgical technique that will yield the best outcomes for patients. It will cover role of virtual reality training, robotics, and navigation technologies used to optimize total arthroplasty outcomes. Technical considerations, efficiency and measurement of outcomes will be reviewed. Cost considerations and cost-effectiveness will be discussed. video presentations will be included.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

After participating in this activity, clinicians should be able to:

  1. Identify strategies and resources available for safe training and use of technology with total knee arthroplasty
  2. Describe the technical pearls and potential pitfalls involved in incorporating modern technology into total knee arthroplasty
  3. Describe the costs and cost savings that can be associated with efficient use of technology with total knee arthroplasty
