This course is an outreach to community physicians and oncologists to educate them on Lung Cancer, specifically the Pancoast tumor which is an uncommon presentation of a lung cancer located at the top of the lung that is invading the chest wall and/or vertebrae causing pain. 3-5% of lung cancer patients present with a Pancoast syndrome. Often the symptoms may be misleading and can delay a diagnosis. Many patients are under-treated and at least 50% or more are likely eligible for tri-modality, potentially curable therapy. Moffitt would like to be involved with the community physicians and oncologists in their patient’s treatment and would plan to send the patient back to their primary oncologist once surgical treatment is finished.
