The future of neurosurgery is in minimally invasive techniques. This one-day course, directed by Dr. Theodore Schwartz and Dr. Mark Souweidane, is a comprehensive overview of the emerging techniques and technologies of minimally invasive cranial neurosurgery, using didactic sessions. At the completion of this course, participants should be well equipped to start utilizing these approaches in their own practices. Participants will have an opportunity to discuss difficult cases with the faculty during panel discussions

TARGETED AUDIENCE

This CME course is intended for national and international practicing neurosurgeons and otolaryngologists, fellows, and residents in training. Nurses, NPs, and PAs are also welcome.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

By the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Recognize the indications and technical steps required to perform tubebased surgery for intraparenchyal brain tumors and hematomas
  • Perform keyhole microsurgery of the anterior and posterior fossa 
  • Achieve a working knowledge of robotic stereotactic placement of LITT and catheter-based therapy and their indications
  • Develop a greater expertise of the complex skull base anatomy and indications for expanded endoscopic skull base approaches
