We have run the Royal Marsden Hospital Opioid Conference successfully for 13 years and continuously allowed it to change and adjust to the times, incorporating germane and contemporaneous developments in the field.
This year we have decided to run our ‘Opioids, cannabinoids, and gabapentinoids’ study day in a virtual format. We will still be offering up to date discussions from experts in this field but it will be accessible from the socially distanced comfort of your home. The format is abridge in time but not in quality with talks concerning the contemporaneous issues of these drugs.
Reassessment of the Opioids Crisis in COVID times, Cathy Stannard’s tour de force on opioids for non-cancer pain, and Dr Judith Paice from the USA talking on opioids for cancer pain represent the Opioid part of the programme. We will also have Professor Andrew Rice presenting on the latest findings from the IASP Cannabinoid Task force as well as Dr Hance
Clarke enlightening us with the Canadian cannabinoid experience. Other salient topics including the Neurobiology of Addiction and an update on transitional pain clinics add to the quality education on offer from our virtual meeting. There will also be live Q&A sessions with all the speakers in the virtual format that we have all become so used to.
