It was an interesting case, the team agreed, because echocardiography showed prolapse and ruptured chordae of the tricuspid valve, most likely due to deceleration injury. It turned out the patient's occupation involved several motor vehicle accidents. "“Every time we see a patient with an isolated lesion of the tricuspid valve, we should ask whether they have had any deceleration injury or what type of job they have, because even a simple question can give us great insight into the cause of the problem,” notes cardiologist Dr. Amin Yehya.
