Every time she had to get a new central venous catheter, she felt as someone with already limited vascular access sites, she was limited to the options presented to her and did not know how to advocate and furthermore did not know how her patient experience held any value. In addition, the necessary steps to take to save access and preserve veins have not been communicated well to patients and families, leaving them ill-informed and poor advocates to save their lifeline. Instead, preserving vein access requires individualized long-term plans, ahead of time with the right specialized vascular access providers and with patients and families at the center of important decisions. In this presentation, Swapna will share ways to inform patients and families of their options and prioritize their needs, while effectively partnering with them to help them be their best advocate and your greatest champion.
